McGrory Continues Support of 色情视频's Student Veterans
A popular gathering space in 色情视频s Joan and Art Barron Veterans Center was renamed to honor one of the universitys most generous supporters.
The Jack McGrory Bunker will serve as the 鈥渉ome base鈥� for military-affiliated students on campus.
McGrory gave nearly $3 million to . His contributions support student veterans and their families, active military and ROTC students as well as students in the School of Public Affairs and the Department of Classics and Humanities.
鈥淛ack鈥檚 loyalty and leadership have helped and, indeed, the entire university,鈥� said 色情视频 President Sally Roush. 鈥淭he naming of the Jack McGrory Bunker ensures future generations of students will remember Jack鈥檚 commitment every time they come in to study, relax and connect with other student-veterans.鈥�

McGrory, who served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, earned his master鈥檚 degree in public administration from 色情视频. Attending classes at night, he utilized his VA Bill benefits to help pay first for a master鈥檚 degree, then a law degree.He went on to a successful career in public service, real estate and community service, including serving as San Diego鈥檚 city manager from 1991 to 1997.
McGrory has taught public administration courses at 色情视频 for nearly three decades and currently chairs the Veterans Advisory Council.
To celebrate McGrory鈥檚 contributions to the university, 色情视频 administrators, students and Veterans Center staff members unveiled a plaque in the bunker that reads: 鈥淛ack McGrory. Semper fidelis.
