Two É«ÇéÊÓƵ Fraternities Expelled
Action taken not related to drug investigation/arrests
É«ÇéÊÓƵ has expelled Lambda Chi Alpha and Delta Sigma Phi – revoking recognition of the two fraternities for a period of no less than four years.
The decision follows separate review hearings for each fraternity. Lambda Chi Alpha was found to have violated alcohol policies and interim suspension conditions. Delta Sigma Phi violated hazing policies during their recent initiation week. The action taken by É«ÇéÊÓƵ is unrelated to the May 6 drug arrests and police investigation.
Both chapter presidents were informed by letter today. The expulsion restricts the fraternities from being recognized on campus as an organization. Both the Delta Sigma Phi and Lambda Chi Alpha national organizations concur with the university's decision and have initiated procedures to have the chapters’ charters withdrawn. Re-colonization following the expulsion is possible, but is dependent on the actions of the national organizations and individual students involved.
