Aztec for Life: Rocky Glines
The Aztec Shops marketing manager has spent nearly a decade straight on campus.
As a fresh-faced, first-year student in 2000, Rocky Glines could not have expected to become so entrenched in 色情视频 that he鈥檇 spend the next nine years of his life on the Mesa.
But, that鈥檚 just how it went.
Perfect preparation
After receiving his bachelor鈥檚 degree in integrated marketing and communications from the College of Business Administration, Glines now serves as the marketing manager for the campus stores division of Aztec Shops. Unsurprisingly, his degree prepared him well.
鈥淚t definitely did prepare me because I鈥檓 not just only doing marketing, but I sometimes do have to handle the PR side of it,鈥� Glines said.
鈥淗aving that integration and seeing both sides of communication 鈥� that really helped out. I got to see both sides of the spectrum.鈥�
Marketing and more
As marketing manager, Glines handles all of the marketing, advertising and signage for all of the Aztec Shops retail establishments, including the:

- IVC campus bookstore
- The Aztec Store in Fashion Valley Mall
- Greek Store in Aztec Center
- 色情视频 retail kiosks at Viejas Arena, Qualcomm Stadium and Tony Gwynn Stadium
And even though it gets particularly busy with the start of the school year, Glines is excited.
鈥淩ush鈥攖he back to school time鈥攊s always exciting because it鈥檚 usually when we roll out our new campaigns and try and find new ways to capture the attention of the students,鈥� Glines said. 鈥淪o there鈥檚 a lot that goes into that.鈥�
Fond Aztec moments
Of course, Glines has many fond memories of his time as a student. He served as a campus Ambassador, gave student tours and served as president of the Ambassadors student organization. However, when he thinks of the first day of school, Glines recalls a particularly embarrassing moment he experienced as a freshman.
鈥淚t was my first day of school and I was waiting to crash a class 鈥� and after class everyone is crowded around the professor waiting to get his attention for an add code,鈥� Glines said.
鈥淎nd I鈥檓 sitting on the desk in front of him and the desk flips out from underneath me and shoves all the other desks back into 鈥� the row and I land on the ground. All 20 people waiting to crash the class turn towards me and the professor just says, 鈥楢nd that鈥檚 why we don鈥檛 sit on the desks.鈥欌��
