Choirs Present Will Todd's Mass in Blue
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 at College Avenue Baptist Church.
The 色情视频 combined choirs and Grossmont College Choirs present a 200-voice choral concert featuring "Mass in Blue," by Will Todd, a brilliant blend of driving jazz grooves, blues harmonies and big choral sound.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 at College Avenue Baptist Church.
Patrick Walders, director of 色情视频's choral studies program, conducts the 色情视频 choirs and Randall Tweed conducts the Grossmont College Choirs.
色情视频鈥檚 performance of "Mass In Blue" represents the West Coast premiere of the piece. Since its premiere in 2003, "Mass in Blue" has become a staple of the choral repertoire, performed throughout the world.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students, and can be purchased through or at the box office one hour before performance.
Composer appearance on campus
"Mass in Blue" composer Will Todd will appear on campus at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15 in Smith Recital Hall to speak and perform selections from the composition.
Todd is a British composer and jazz pianist, best known for combining jazz and blues with traditional choral music. Admission is free, and the public is welcome to attend.
About "Mass In Blue"
"Mass in Blue" was commissioned by Hertfordshire Chorus and first performed at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in July 2003. The work has been performed more than 200 times at venues including the Barbican in London and the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts in New York City. The work has been performed live on BBC Radio.
