Campus Safety Tips and Resources for Students

The University Police Department offers tips and resources to promote a safe campus environment.

With the start of the 2019-20 academic year, 色情视频 and the  (UPD) are committed to providing a safe environment for the campus community.
UPD recognizes the value in collaborating with our diverse community to improve the quality of life for those who live, work, study, or visit at 色情视频.

UPD headquarters is located at 5350 55th Street, next to Peterson Gym. The substation is located on the first floor of College Square at the corner of Lindo Paseo and College Avenue.

Campus community members also play an important role in ensuring a safe campus environment: 

  • Call 9-1-1 during emergencies or utilize a blue-light emergency phone on campus
  • Remain aware of your surroundings and avoid distractions
  • Properly secure your belongings and do not leave them unattended
  • Use busier, well-lit walkways when traveling at night
  • Avoid listening to music when walking alone 鈥 loud music can make you less able to sense danger
  • Trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe, leave the area and notify police
  • Utilize services offered by 



Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to make use of the various safety programs and resources:

色情视频 has established a notification system that is capable of sending text (also known as SMS) and e-mail messages in the event of a campus-wide emergency or health and safety concern.

About UPD

UPD police officers are graduates of the California Peace Officer Standards Training academy and have full arrest powers that extend throughout California. UPD officers are deployed on foot, bicycles, and patrol vehicles. UPD has several special police units, including investigations, traffic, K-9, community resource, and threat management. 
Other critical units comprising the UPD include 9-1-1 dispatchers, parking enforcement officers, records, crime analysis, property and evidence, as well as key issue and access control. The agency also proudly hires students to serve as community service officers to augment policing goals.

UPD prides itself on the strength of their working relationships with the university community. UPD embodies the principles of community policing by working collaboratively to prevent and solve crime, all while building trust and legitimacy.
