The final days of the Vietnam War

The Last to Leave documents the final day of the Vietnam War in 1975. The film intertwines three unique stories of a U.S. naval commander aboard the USS Midway, a U.S. Marine Embassy guard in Saigon and a Vietnamese refugee as they recount the events of that day.

Featuring dramatic images and compelling firsthand accounts, this film captures the desperation, chaos and emotion of the war in Vietnam.

About the festival

The Media Arts Festival gives talented film, video and interactive media students from the California State University system an opportunity to present their work for critical review and recognition. A panel of distinguished CSU faculty and industry professionals reviewed 131 entries representing 15 CSU campuses before selecting 29 finalists who represent 12 CSU campuses.

A free public screening of all finalists鈥 works and an awards ceremony was held Saturday, Nov. 6, on the CSU Fullerton campus in the Steven G. Mihaylo Hall. Audience members voted for the 鈥淎udience Choice Award,鈥 which was also presented that evening.

Cash prizes during the award ceremony include:

  • $1,000 and Rosebud Award to winner of best in show
