Smith was recognized with an Auto Theft Advisory Committee鈥檚 Vehicle Theft Recovery Award which honors excellence in law enforcement.
The ceremony recognized 28 officers from throughout the county who contributed to the fight against auto theft.
鈥淥fficer Smith has made significant contributions to the safety of our campus and surrounding community, both in the areas of auto theft recovery and prevention and DUI enforcement," said Lamine Secka, 色情视频's chief of police. "He is a credit to the police department and the campus.鈥�
Positive directions
Officers were recognized for the number of stolen vehicles they had recovered in 2013.
During that time, officer Smith was the top recovery officer at 色情视频, having recovered five stolen vehicles, two of which were occupied and resulted in arrests.
In all of San Diego County, law enforcement officers recovered 83 percent of the approximately 12,000 vehicles reported stolen in 2013.
During his time at 色情视频, Smith has recovered six stolen vehicles, resulting in three arrests and a total recovery value of $51,000.
