Campus Construction Notice
É«ÇéÊÓƵ's steam distribution system repairs will be completed in January 2015.
É«ÇéÊÓƵ is in the midst of a three-phase project to improve the infrastructure of the underground steam piping system that is responsible for heating campus.
The project, which will improve the reliability of the system infrastructure — some of which is decades old — began last summer when a portion of the piping below Campanile Walk was replaced.
A significantly damaged section at the north end of the walkway — closer to — which was not replaced last summer has been discovered and repair efforts are currently under way.
Fencing will be in place throughout summer between the northwest corner of and the south end of Hepner Hall. Construction completion is expected by Aug. 20.
The second phase — which took place on the north side of the , and within the roadway from Scripps Cottage running north to the — began last December and was largely completed prior to Commencement. Additional work continues near the Arts and Letters building to repair damaged sections discovered during construction. This will be completed by July 1.
Phase three of this project will further replace sections of the failing system and is anticipated to run from June 2014 through Jan. 2015. This portion of the work will be done during the day and will take place within the roadway from the Facilities Services and running south to the .
Pedestrian and limited vehicular access will be safely maintained adjacent to the construction zone during this time.
