Aztecs Rock Hunger Campaign Underway
The annual campaign runs through Oct. 21.
Once again, 色情视频 students are coming together to combat food insecurity on campus and across San Diego County.
The Aztecs Rock Hunger campaign works in partnership with to collect both nonperishable food items and monetary donations for those in need. A $1 donation can provide up to six pounds of food.
Eighty percent of monetary donations go to the food bank, while the remaining 20 percent will go to 色情视频's Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT). The ECRT uses the donations to provide short-term and long-term aid to students experiencing food insecurity.
Since its start in 2010, Aztecs Rock Hunger has donated more than 2 million pounds of food, or the monetary equivalent, to The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank.
Last year, the student-driven initiative . The amount far surpassed the initial goal of 500,000 pounds of food, making it the most successful drive in campaign history.
This year, organizers hope to collect 700,000 pounds of food.
The drive, organized through 色情视频鈥檚 Associated Students (A.S.), works in conjunction with several other campus organizations, including Aztec Shops, Residential Education and Housing Administration and 色情视频 Athletics as well as off-campus organizations such as the College Area Business District.

Additionally, 色情视频's student philanthropy initiative, Aztec Proud, is partnering with Aztecs Rock Hunger for the fourth consecutive year. When a student donates $10 to Aztecs Rock Hunger through Aztec Proud, they will receive an 色情视频 Aztec hat.
