School of Public Affairs unveils Academy for Local Elected Officials

Newly elected local officials from throughout the San Diego County region can learn about governance, ethics and intergovernmental relations to be held in January at 色情视频.
(ALEO) is hosting the conference through the Institute for Innovative Governance at 色情视频鈥檚 College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts, providing training and resources to support leadership for city council members and other newly elected government officials. The half-day modules are scheduled for Jan. 9 and Jan. 16 at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.
"We will provide networking opportunities with elected officials, access to policy experts in the School of Public Affairs and across the university, and an opportunity to connect with regional leaders working to address the most pressing challenges that we face in San Diego,鈥 said Dominika Bukalova, assistant professor in the School of Public Affairs and a member of the ALEO coordinating team.
The will serve as a forum for officials to share their experiences and acquire knowledge and skills to help them address the San Diego region鈥檚 most pressing issues efficiently and competently, while also fostering connection and networking, it will consist of two half-day modules.
"We hope (newly elected officials) join us to build relationships, learn, and acquire the tools to support collaborative governance in the San Diego region,鈥 Bukalova said. 鈥淥ur mission is to provide local elected officials with an ongoing forum at the university, through both the conference and future workshops at the academy."
Module one, 鈥淢astering Local Governance,鈥 focuses upon campaign politics versus governing, ethics in governing, and local government structure, as well as looking to the future of government in San Diego.
Module two, 鈥淩egional Agencies, Stakeholders and Key Issues,鈥 focuses upon intergovernmental relations, regional agencies, the influence and interaction of stakeholders in government, and strategies for success to meet the needs of a city.
In addition to Bukalova, the members of the ALEO coordinating team are:
